  • Condition when the tendon that connects the calf muscles (gastrocnemius and soleus) to the heel bone (calcaneus) becomes irritated

  • Signs / symptoms:

    • Pain behind the heel

    • Ankle stiffness

    • Difficulty pointing the foot

  • Usually stems from overuse but can come on rapidly if you are not warmed up or have not built up your tissue to handle a high volume of jumping, sprinting or running uphill.
