Little League Shoulder

  • Overuse injury typically occurring in young baseball pitchers resulting in epiphysiolysis of the proximal humerus (small fracture of the growth plate in the shoulder)

  • Males > females

  • Typical ages: 11-16

  • Most effective treatment: physical therapy to regain strength in the shoulder to prevent re-injury

  • After completing these programs it is highly recommended to transition to a return to throwing program with a skilled physical therapist or athletic trainer to ensure correct throwing mechanics
